Garbage and Recycling Collection

The Regional Municipality of Niagara provides weekly collection of recycling and organic food and yard waste. As of Oct. 19, an every-other-week garbage collection policy has been implemented. Port Colborne residents will not have garbage collected the week of Oct. 19. The every-other-week garbage collection will start the week of Oct. 26.

 Large household item and appliance collection call 1-855-227-7771 or 905-227-7771 at least two working days prior to your regular garbage collection day, to make arrangements for collection.

Illegal Dumping

Illegal dumping is the disposing of waste in non-designated areas, such as rural areas, vacant lots and along the roadside.

Is there a streetlight near your home or business that is not working properly? Is the streetlight always on?

Does the streetlight fail to come on after dark? Does the streetlight have exposed wires or other safety hazards?

Snow Removal

City Trees

To request trimming of a City tree or to report a dead City tree please call the Operations Department at 905-835-5079.

If you are unsure if a tree is a City tree or a tree on private property please contact the Engineering Department at 905-835-2901 ext 219.

If tree branches are growing into the hydro wires contact Canadian Niagara Power at 905-835-0051.

Water Services

To report discoloured water, low water pressure, frozen water service or a possible watermain break please contact the Operations Department at 905-835-5079.  

Well Water Testing Pick-up / Drop-off

Due to COVID-19, all Niagara Region locations are closed for pick-up and drop-off of water samples or testing bottles. You can continue testing your private water system through private licensed labs in Ontario or by contacting the Hamilton Public Health Lab at 250 Fennell Ave. W, Hamilton, ON L8N 3R5 for direct drop off.
